Generic Conversion- What happens when you do a conversion?

This is Steve Kobb's S-10 conversion.

The following Conversion is between a Hyundai and a forklift motor. Note that the link is a CAD model, that is, it is zoomable, and rotateable. (It takes a moment to load.)The technical challenge was coupling a clutch disk to a tapered shaft. Rather than make a coupling with a tapered shaft, I opted to press fit an an aluminum disk over a hardened gear that connected to the tapered shaft. The press fit interference was 0.020" per side. Then the clutch disk, with a spline, was bolted to the aluminum disk.

If I were to make battery cable for #2 stranded wire, I would make it as follows: Bandsaw a copper plate from 1/4" bussbar, which can be found at scrap yards. The plate size is 3/4 x 1 1/2 long, with a hole for the battery connection. Squash, in a vise, 1/2" soft copper tube (x 5/8 long) while on the stripped end of #2 cable. Silver solder the squashed tube (and cable) to the plate. Solder the stranded cable to the squashed copper tube.

A simpler method is to forget the busbar, and just use the soft copper tube. Squash, in a vise, 1/2" soft copper tube (x 1 1/4 long) while on the stripped end of #2 cable. Solder the end, but not too much solder, as it flows well up the copper strands. Drill 5/16" hole for battery connection.

Kevin is converting a Honda, using the Siemens motor with an as yet dertermined AC drive. I am helping to make the interface plate between the AC motor and the transmission. Here, I am digitizing the transmission, to make the interface plate. I will also digitize the motor.

I am considering a conversion of a Dodge Rampage. It is a small front wheel drive truck, made is 1982. My intent is to explore a 2 motor drive. One motor drives the left front wheel, and the other driving the right front wheel. Whether it is AC or DC has not been decided. Either way, I would like to have regen braking. Kelly controls has a DC drive with regen. They have a schematic for a dual motor setup. Regen is the way to go.
